A cutting-edge design collective has been chosen to add some creative flair to the improvements being made to Whitley Bay’s Northern Promenade.
Following a competitive tender process, North Tyneside Council has appointed a consortium to develop a number of ideas to complement the ongoing work on the seafront stretch.
All based in and around Newcastle city centre and with strong links to Whitley Bay, the group features ‘xsite architecture’, designer-engineers ‘Raskl’ and design and branding experts ‘Electrik Sheep Design’.

Hoults Yard in Newcastle, has the claim of being at one point, the largest pottery manufacture in Europe. It is now the site of a state of the art business village. With a recent European Fund investment its re-brand had to reflect elements of the sites 300 year old heritage, yet look forward and capture the 'New Artisan' Zeitgeist. Mixing new design with old materials we created an holistic brand solution of laser etched wood, a 5x4m wall of printed and sealed ceramic tiles, laser etched Copper, filigree grade decals, rusted and printed metal signage and 70 x 1m individually illustrated Giclee prints, metal and LED lighted signage. All designs referenced elements from the original Mailing ware pottery
After our successful installation at the Keds showrooms we were invited to install at the Gap x Keds collaboration store on 5th Ave NYC. Using Vinyl, decals, wheat paste, paint on wood we created a montage of their past historical images, ads and promo material spanning the past 9 decades.
Located within the grand Georgian Theatre Royal in Newcastle we were tasked with breaking with tradition and devise a brand and environment that has an old established Italian feeling but has an edge of irreverence and street humour. We used a variety of materials to fulfil this brief from tinted varnish, inks, canvas and wheat paste to screen print over heavy rusted steel panels. The overall look was awesome and put Nine Bar on the map as a unique place in the city
On our third install for the emerging titan that is Wework, we were asked to create an environment spanning the corridor lengths on 3 floors of their Aldgate site. We decided to maintain a hand feel rather than mass produce and stencil our iconic flower patterns in a repeat. Over 3 nights (and 400m of walls!) we created a unique, warm, engaging piece that looks incredible from all angles
Keds commisioned us to produce a creative environment at their NY showroom. They wanted to showcase their heritage showing their new, fresh advertising mixed with media pieces spanning 100 years of their brand. We created patterns from their heritage material and ripped pieces to weave in old and new.
The U.S. Open of Surfing is a week-long surfing competition held annually during the summer in Huntingdon Beach CA. It is the largest surfing competition in the world and is attended by nearly 500,000 people.
We were invited to paint our artwork live, over the week of the event, using pre-crowdsourced walls. Imagery included key figures in the world of Surf, Skate and BMX. Each wall 100m x 3 and each wall after completion taken to be made into pre-routed modular furniture. AMAZING!
For a full 10 years, Electrik Sheep was a showcase for our Art, passion and design, the juice that kept us hydrated. Stocked with some of the best brands in Streetwear, 10 Deep, the Hundreds, Diamond Supply Co, Sixpack along with our own in-house designs it became a beacon for all creatives in the great city of Newcastle. Tasked to provide a full Italian themed environment in this spacious iconic setting within the Theatre Royal, we began the process by exploring our clients Italian backgrounds to find a theme that was authentic, humorous and warm. Torn poster layers found in every Italian city formed the backdrop to the execution and the graphics were a mixture of new modern illustrations mixed with food referenced posters and illustration. A seamless wheat paste technique allowed us to create great scale within budget
Working with our licensee at Boi Trading we produced a range of clothing that was classic with a twist of street, inspiring messaging in a no nonsense style.
